Are You a Lurker or a Leader?
There are two different categories of people in this life.
There is a particular kind of people who will always wait for opportunity to
come but there are people who are creating opportunities. There are people
who are waiting to do "big big" things while there are people doing normal things
in "big big" ways. There are people who will never see any good thing in any situation, they will always find a reason to complain; while there are people
who will always find good in every situation and a reason to rejoice always.
There are people who will run away from challenges but there are people who
will run towards challenges! Which one are you?
The first set of people are people who are waiting for things to
happen! They say, oh! I am waiting for the right time to send in that application.
I am waiting for the perfect job to come along. These people are the onlookers and lurkers in life. They are
shortsighted, unable to see beyond the present. They live in the now. They
write down goals but have no plans to achieve those goals. They are like Esau, and
their belly is their God. Always looking for the easy way in life! Waiting for the right time is a good idea; for everything under heaven has a time God has apportioned to it. However, waiting connotes action. Waiting is not passive! Many people use it as an excuse not to do what God has told them to do. While waiting for your life partner, you must be diligently learning and preparing for him/her. While waiting for your dream job, you must be willing to work an available job and work your way to your dream job. Many great success stories did not start their dream job as their first job. They just started somewhere. The only way to achieve your goal is to begin. You must drive yourself to achieve your goals!
The second group of people are the leaders! And I don't mean leading a group of people! No! They are Visionaries, they are able to look past today and see tomorrow from today. They are not waiting for things to happen but they are making things happen. They see where they are going in the future and they sit down and begin to work towards it. These ones are not stopped by challenges. they don't wait for opportunities rather they create opportunities. They are diligent in whatever they are doing! They are faithful even in small things. They are self-driven and time conscious. They are always seeking to invest and enrich themselves to be able to pour into others. They are always serving and impacting their world. Everyday they do things that will move them closer to their goal. They surround themselves with men and women of like passion and they see nothing but endless possibilities!
The difference between these two people are their perspectives in life. One chooses to see possibilities and the other chooses to see difficulties. You cannot progress or prosper beyond your perspective. You have to culture your mind to see only great things. You have to think big, dream big, imagine great things and believe you can do it. You have to sacrifice your time and pleasures to achieve your dreams. And I don't mean that you deny reality. No! They are two types of realm. The realm of reality and the realm of possibilities. You must be able to see beyond the realm of realities into the realm of possibilities.
I will leave you with Isaiah 54:2(MSG):
Clear lots of ground for your tents!
Make your tents large.
Spread out! Think big!
Use plenty of rope,
drive the tent pegs deep.
You're going to need lots of elbow room
for your growing family. You're going to take over whole nations;
You're going to resettle abandoned cities.
Don't be afraid ––you're not going to be embarrassed.
Don't hold back––you're not going to come up short.
