Pay Attention to Small Things

 One of the principles of the kingdom of God is the principle of small things. Small things are tiny, non-noticeable, negligible; there is every tendency not to focus on them. As human beings, we are inclined to desire the "big- big" things of life: that big opportunity, that big job,  that big connection, that big car, etc. However, God is not just interested in giving you big things. He is also interested in proving you in small things. In the parable of the mustard seed and yeast, Jesus likens the Kingdom of God to a mustard seed, which a man took and planted in his field. Although it was the smallest of the seeds, It grew into a tree that sheltered the birds of the air (Matthew 13:31-33). That's how the Kingdom of God works!

You are waiting on God to open that BIG door for you, but you have never done anything with the little instruction he gave you last week. Every great vision starts as a little instruction, just a little stirring in your heart. Have you observed that even great revivals were born from personal revivals or a small group of people gathering together in prayer? What you do with the small things will determine what you will do with the big things when they come. The scripture says that if you are not faithful in small things, it is an indication that you will mismanage the big things (Luke 16:10, Matt 25:21).

A  man whom God has not proved with the little things will never handle greater opportunities. Faithfulness and consistency with the little things in secret births the manifestation of bigger opportunities in the open. Whatever your hand finds to do, no matter how little, focus on it and put your best into it. Whatever instruction God has given you, focus on it and be faithful. Stop comparing your instruction with another man's instruction. You want to pray for 3 hours per day, start with 30 mins every day and be faithful in it, don't be discouraged! You may hear that someone is praying 5 hours a day. Thank God for them but focus on the 30 mins and watch God empower you for more!

In the parable of the talents (Matthew 25:14-30), we again see this principle at work. The servant who was given only one talent hid it in the ground. Had he invested it and made use of it faithfully, he would have been given more talents. So we see that to end up BIG, we need to start small. Work on that small as if it is BIG. That's faithfulness mentality! You have an appointment with a friend, keep to time. If you don't keep time with your friend, you will struggle to be on time when you have a bigger appointment. 

This week, this is your reminder: focus on the little; pay attention to the small instructions. Give yourself diligently to them, apply yourself to it, and see God bring increase to it.
