Be Yourself- The brave Ones are Always Different.
There is a grace that flows ceaselessly when we stay true to ourselves and maintain our own originality. We all are not created the same. God made us unique and different. He loves unity not uniformity, so it is not a taboo to be the odd man out. We are always afraid to be different because we do not want to be singled out. But dare to be different because the brave ones are always different! Why should I be myself? Because you bring a unique idea, a different perspective of looking at things and you create an additional method of solving a problem. Because you a piece that complete and solves a puzzle. You are a solution to people's problems. You have the idea that the world is looking for. Without your words, sentences will be incomplete. Without your ideas, projects will be incomplete.
When I come in contact with different people, am looking to have a taste of originality that stems from being whom God created them to be. However, most people compare themselves and their abilities to other people and in the process leave the unique person God has made them to be, thereby quenching the flow of God's grace on their lives. That is the reason you see a lot of people struggling and trapped in a box. They never seem to make progress in life because they want to be like someone else. When God looks at us, he wants to see the person he created us to be. He wants to hear our voice not someone else's voice. We can let someone inspire and challenge us but we should not be like them! We shouldn't be like Jacob who presented himself to his father disguised to be someone else, having the hands of Esau and the voice of Jacob. Learn to accept the person God has made you to be!
What does it mean to be yourself? It means that you have to find out what God had deposited in you, find out the purpose of your existence, find out the talents and the skills that you have. Horn those skills, fan that purpose into flame. Those desires, ideas, and abilities in you were born by the holy ghost (Phil 2:13). Nurse and water them with God's word and life will spring forth from them. Being yourself also means accommodating other people and their vision and not being jealous of them, because you know we all have been called to walk in different pathways in life.
When you have these understanding in you, you wont be envious, bitter or jealous of other people; rather you will want to encourage them, you want to build them up to be whom God made them to be. Because our joy will only be complete when we help others fulfill their destiny. Thank God for the likes of Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego. Thank God for Daniel and Esther! These men and women stayed true to who they are. They didn't conform to the standards of the world. They refused to do what everybody does or be like every other person. Their difference brought an impact to their world. Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego refused to bow down to the god that Nebuchadnezzar had made. In their generation, when others were bowing to the god of this world, they stood for the God of our kingdom! When others where enjoying the King's dainties, Daniel purposed in his heart to be himself and not to defile himself! When other models were asking for ornaments and different cosmetics to make them appealing and more attractive to the king, Esther required nothing except that which Hegai suggested (Esther 2:15). Esther knew that staying true to herself and maintaining her originality was all that was needed to attract and get the the heart of the king.
Now, someone somewhere is waiting to say,"thank God for you because your uniqueness, originality, and difference made an impact in my life" You are the one I have been wanting and waiting to meet! Stay true to your calling.
